SignAd was first established in 1964 by Wesley Gilbreath, Sr. on what he described to be “a wing and a prayer”.

Based out of Houston, Texas, SignAd started as a multipurpose sign company tending to all facets of the sign business. The company manufactured, erected and maintained not just billboards, but a variety of signs in its youth. Along the way, SignAd found its niche and success in outdoor advertising, specializing in outdoor bulletins. The company found their purpose and drive in supporting small businesses in and around the Houston area. Helping these small companies to create powerful images on large colorful displays leaving a lasting impression on the consumer driving by.

In a struggling economy in the early 1980’s, Wesley Gilbreath, Sr. retired and Wes Gilbreath, Jr. took over paving a new way for SignAd. The family-owned company was struggling just like the economy; however, Wes Gilbreath, Jr. saw the potential and an opportunity for growth. With a passion for quality outdoor advertising, Wes Jr. transformed SignAd into what it is today, by catering to each customer and their individual advertising needs. His sight for optimism and willingness to serve others has not only benefited their customers and their potential growth, but it has also spilled over to SignAd itself and its growth.

Over the past 59 years, SignAd has continued to invest and expand its real estate holdings in Texas and Louisiana, allowing the company to increase its inventory to meet the needs of both its local and national customers. This process has transformed SignAd from a small sign company into the largest independently owned outdoor advertising company in Texas with over 2,600 displays throughout Texas and parts of Louisiana.

Today, SignAd is still a family-owned company with Wes Gilbreath, Jr. serving as the President and CEO, along with his daughter, Taylor Gilbreath, the third generation of the family, who is currently head of the company’s Operations Department. With what started off as a small company of just a handful of employees, SignAd now serves over 50 employees, with half of them being employed at SignAd anywhere from 10 years to 43 years. SignAd is a firm believer in having high standards and treating people right, even down to their beloved employees, who have dedicated their careers to the success of SignAd, just how Wes Gilbreath, Jr. envisioned so many years ago.
